How To setup a Twitter data source

TDM offers the ability to add external data sources. With these data sources TDM offers the ability to display real-time information within your presentation. TDM offers support for the following external data sources:

  • Facebook

  • Twitter

  • Instagram

  • Yahoo Weather

  • Office365 Calendar

  • Google Calendar

  • Flickr

  • Yammer

  • LinkedIn

  • Exchange

  • Power BI

  • NS

  • Axis (People Counter camera)

  • HIKVision (People Counter camera)

This guide will explain how the Twitter data source can be added.

Requirements

If you want to setup a Twitter data sources you need to meet the following requirements:

  • Have administrator access to the TDM designer

  1. Please login to the designer with an administrator account: https://designer.tdmsignage.com 


  2. Select “Config Panel”.

  3. Select the tab called “External Data”.

  4. Select the “+” button on the right side to create a new data source.

  5. In the pop-up which will open you can fill in a name for your data source and then select the “Twitter” data source. Once selected, click “Next”.

     

  6. In the next window you can choose the account or hashtag you want to use for your data source, you can choose to tick some of the options mentioned below:

    Show urls in tweets: Select if you want to show urls in your tweets or if you want to filter them out


    All search words in a tweet: Select if you want to show all tweets containing the selected hashtag instead of just tweets from a specified account


    Show retweets: Select if you also want to show the retweets of an account (if an account is filled in)


    Once you have configured the data source select “Save” to save the data source.


  7. Now that you have successfully created a Twitter data source, it is possible to preview the information of the data source with the “eye” icon in front of the data source.
