2.0 - How to backup and restore

TEOS Manage is updated several times a year with new features and functionality. This document shows how a server can easily be saved and restored to a previous state.

Note that this document is focusing on the simple backup and restore from TEOS platform and not on the high availability or system management that can be done using Microsoft environment and virtualization software capacity.

Requirements

If you want to use the backup and restore functionality you need to meet the following requirements:

  • TEOS Manage server installed

  • All licenses need to be valid for receiving updates

  • Access to the TEOS Manage server with admin rights

  • Domain name of the server cannot be different

Step-by-step process:
1.       Connect to the TEOS Manage webpage and log in as an Admin user.
2.       Navigate to the “Server Management”  section and go to the “Back-up and Restore” tab
3.       Log in with “administrator” credentials which are also used for setting up RDP to the server (please notice that this needs to be done from a workstation and cannot be done from the server itself)
4.       Choose to backup or restore. If you want to restore, you will need a zip file with a previous back-up on the same TEOS Manage version and the same domain name.

What a TEOS Manage back-up contains:

In the .zip file you will find three folders:

The folder “backupservice” with a subfolder called “db”, this contains the SQL Database: Users configurations, Devices, Schedules, Meetings, etc.

The folder “upload” with two subfolders called “<customer-id>” and “resources”, this folders contain the media uploaded on the machine like images, videos and audio and the external data: RSS, external calendars etc.

Then there is a folder called “www” which contains all files for the webapplications and IIS information.
